Office of Research

Grant Support Services

The ACES Office of Research prioritizes grant support for interdisciplinary research proposals (2+ disciplines or depts., 3+ PIs) and first-time submissions for junior faculty.  Our services cover the entire grant pipeline supported by several Office of Research staff from providing advice and training to supporting proposal development and submission.  We do not have a budget limit or require advanced notice; however, our level of assistance increases with early involvement and grant complexity. Our services are meant to supplement the support provided by each department.

For example, we can help identify appropriate funding opportunities, find collaborators within and outside our institution, facilitate good communication between team members, manage project tasks and timelines, and develop the grant proposal and other supplemental documents.  In particular, we work to present the proposed research in a way that is logical and easily understood by reviewers, including development of the storyline or schematics. We also make sure the proposal meets the evaluation criteria, funding agency priorities and other requirements, such as broader societal impacts.

If you have questions or want grant proposal support, please contact Kathy Partlow by email ( or phone (217-300-2936).
