North Illinois Agronomy Research Center

Established in 1948 near Shabbona in DeKalb County on soils that are primarily Argiudolls and Haplaquolls, this 160-acre center is the northernmost research and education center of the University of Illinois, providing land and support for campus-based researchers studying plant breeding, soil fertility soil management, weed science, crop production, pest management, and environmental quality. About 45 separate research projects are conducted here every year.
